Continuing our tradition of supporting new and emerging groups, our Catalyst grants provide general operating support to groups that are in the early stages of organizing. This seed funding furthers our grantees’ ability to start or expand their community organizing work—with a focus of developing community leaders and a vision of achieving systems-based change. Instructions: 

  • Complete the application below. You can save your work by clicking "Save Draft" at the bottom of the page.  
  • Indicate three preferred dates and times for a site visit. Hold your preferred dates and times on your calendar. If you are selected for a site visit, we will do our best to accommodate your first preference. We will contact all applicants to confirm dates during the week of October 29.
  • Attach the following materials:
  1. Catalyst Proposal Narrative (3-5 pages). You can download the proposal questions from the instructions on our website. You may also submit a proposal created for other funders provided that it pertains to your organizing work. 
  2. 501(c)(3) Letter or Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement & Fiscal Sponsor's 501(c)(3) Letter


Once your application is submitted, you will receive an automatic receipt. Your application is not considered complete until you receive a confirmation email from our program staff. You will receive a confirmation email within 48 hours.

Our Rapid Response grants are designed to support organizing, activism, and strategic convening in response to urgent threats or breaking opportunities, especially during critical junctures of a campaign. 

This grant is intended to help organizations achieve a timely and specific outcome or impact within three to six months, usually as part of a long-term goal to achieve systems-based change.

Grassroots Actions grants provide general operating support to organizations with a track record of success in community organizing. For more information about Grassroots Action grant, please visit our website.

It's our mission is to make it easier for current grantees to re-apply for general operating support and share the latest updates. Our renewal application is also an opportunity for current grantees to share feedback with us. For more information, please read more about renewal grants on our website.

  • Indicate your preferred site visit dates and times and hold them on your calendar. A select number of renewal grantees will be asked to meet for a site visit. Due to capacity, the majority of renewal grantees will be not be asked to meet for a site visit; instead, please expect to be notified during the week of October 29-November 2 to release the holds on your calendar.
  • Attach the following materials:

You may submit proposals and follow-up reports created for other funders provided that they pertain to your organizing work. You can download the proposal questions and follow-up report forms from the instructions on our website. 

  1. Renewal Proposal Narrative (2-5 pages) describing your organization’s current work, including goals for the upcoming year.   
  2. Follow-Up Report (2 pages) describing reflections from your past year’s accomplishments and challenges.
  3. If applicable, any new/updated 501(c)(3) Letter or Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement & Fiscal Sponsor's 501(c)(3) Letter.


Once your application is submitted, you will receive an automatic receipt. Your application is not considered complete until you receive a confirmation email from our program staff. You will receive a confirmation email within 48 hours.
